Bohemian Paradise

September 2018

Autumn 2018 arrived, and I still haven't been able to get a work card for more than a year, so I travel exclusively around Czechia. This time we walked through Bohemian Paradise, through nature.

Actually, in Czechia nature means civilization, so normal trails with cafes and blackjack are available literally an hour or two from Prague.

We got out to a place called "Bohemian Paradise", which is in northern Czechia. We traveled almost 2 hours to the town of Turnov, from there 15 km on foot.

I also wanted to walk around the town after the walk, but we didn't have time because I miscalculated the time, and everyone wanted to go home earlier.

But I'll return to Turnov and tell you what's up there.

The trail starts right from the town, you need to navigate by red markings on trees and walls. After 10 minutes you're already leaving the town and walking through nature

We could have saved half an hour and gone one more stop by train

The train goes across some river

Life outside a Czech town - there's electricity

After half an hour views of the town open up. The first hour or two was uphill, then almost always either flat or downhill

After an hour of walking - the first observation tower. You can eat sandwiches there - on this trail it's important to bring food, because there aren't that many full restaurants along the way

View from the tower

Further - forest. Lots of forest

They say modern people lack images of nature in their lives

Smells of nature, sounds of nature

Which causes stress, all that stuff

I often notice this about myself, so ideally, the plan is to get out of town at least once a week.

But the visa situation really interferes :)

And laziness, of course. Coming up with an excuse is much easier than buying a ticket

Another funny thing - actually, this article could have come out 5 years ago too

Bohemian Paradise was one of the excursions where we were taken in groups

Back then I took literally a couple of photos, and my battery died. It never died again, another point to what I learned in 5 years of blogging.

And the route, by the way, is very easy, so I recommend it to everyone, even those coming with kids

The photos turn out really beautiful. By the way, progress - absolutely all photos in this article were taken on a mobile phone

How to get there? Train to the town of Turnov, direct from Prague. Takes about 1:45, I recommend reserving seats as lots of people travel

Finally - scroll, those on mobile. This is what it all looks like full-height
